Your Child's First Dental Visit — What to Expect at Famicare

Set your little one up for a lifetime of fear-free dental care. Here's how we handle first visits at our Sector 15 clinic.

Your Child's First Dental Visit — What to Expect at Famicare

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a child's first dental visit by their first birthday — or within 6 months of the first tooth appearing. Here's exactly what happens at Famicare.

1. The clinic tour

We start by showing your child around — the waiting area, the kids' play zone, the dental chair (which goes up and down like a rollercoaster!). No treatment in the first 5 minutes.

2. Meet the tools

We use the 'tell-show-do' method. Your child can hold the mirror, hear the 'whoosh' of the air-water syringe, and try the 'Mr. Thirsty' suction. Everything has a kid-friendly nickname.

3. Gentle examination

For under-3s, we do a 'knee-to-knee' exam with the parent holding the child. For older kids, the chair is reclined slowly with their permission.

4. Preventive care

If everything looks healthy, we apply fluoride varnish and discuss brushing, diet, and any habits (thumb sucking, mouth breathing). Total visit time: about 30 minutes.

5. Rewards & next visit

Every child leaves with a sticker, a new toothbrush, and a 'Brave Patient' certificate. We schedule the next visit in 6 months — turning dental visits into a positive routine.
